_________

As we gradually inch towards the end of the year, this is also an opportunity for reflection and contemplation.

2020 has been a tumultuous time for many: the world that we once knew has been propelled into one that's rather peculiar. Despite seeming gloom, the pandemic still offers its silver lining — it has brought to the forefront the importance of mental well-being. While this is good news, we must not remain contented. Mental Health is a universal right, but inequality in circumstances (e.g. social and economic situations) have caused certain segments of society finding themselves disproportionately affected by ill-mental health, or who do not have equal access to mental health services and resources. Tackling such inequality extends beyond mere local efforts, but requires a community to come together as we challenge conventional structures in hopes for positive change. ALL of us need to work together to create a supportive environment where we lift one another up, and thereby thriving in mind and body.

Our invitation to you: Check in with your loved ones this festive season through a call or text message. We may not be able to come together in big groups this year, but we can express our love and support for each other through our willingness to be present.

From all of us at SMHFF, we look forward to creating new conversations with you in the coming new year. We wish you a beautiful festive holiday and a peaceful 2021!
